Chery Auto Malaysia has now launched the Chery Corporate Malaysia Factory in Shah Alam.
This new facility marks the first in the ASEAN region to produce the highly anticipated premium off-road SUV, the Jaecoo J7.
"Malaysia is a very important market for Chery. Our vision for the Malaysian market is to grow with our local partners and customers for the long term," said Chery Automobile, Chairman, Yin Tongyue during the factory's launch event.
The inauguration of the factory was highlighted by the rollout of the first Jaecoo J7 All-Wheel Drive (AWD) premium off-road SUV.
Strategically located in the Shah Alam industrial zone, the Chery Corporate Malaysia Factory is near critical local manufacturers and Malaysia's busiest port, positioning it well for future exports to the ASEAN region.
The new factory features cutting-edge technology and stringent quality control processes. The Jaecoo J7 AWD and Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) variants will be the first models assembled at this facility. The factory's establishment has created 500 new jobs, with potential for further growth in line with market demands.
To date, Chery's local operations have created over 1,000 jobs in Malaysia. The brand also boasts a network of 100 sales and service centres nationwide.
Yin also commented on the evolving Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) market, expressing satisfaction with the positive response from Malaysian customers towards Chery and Jaecoo products.
In line with its brand ecology, "New Energy, New Eco, New Era," Jaecoo recently showcased its future EV portfolio at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, previewing the Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), Jaecoo J7 PHEV, and the Jaecoo J6 full-fledged Electric Vehicle (EV).
The launch of the new production facility will be followed by the official launch of the Jaecoo J7 in Malaysia, celebrated over three days from July 19th to 21st.
