VinFast, in collaboration with Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), has launched the VF 3 and VF 5 electric vehicles (EVs) in Laos.

GSM, which has also opened its first VinFast showroom in the country, is the exclusive distributor of the Vietnamese carmaker's products in the Laotian market. GSM has also introduced the Xanh SM platform, an open technology system designed to allow VF 5 owners in Laos to engage in ride-hailing services and generate income.

"The launch of the Xanh SM Platform in Laos is not merely a market expansion; it represents a strategic export of a development model that integrates technology, environmental considerations, and economic opportunity. Vietnam is not only capable of producing green vehicles but also of contributing to the global shift in mobility. Xanh SM reflects that direction," stated Nguyen Van Thanh, Chief Executive Officer of GSM Global, in a press release.

The VF 3 and VF 5 - both also available in the Philippines - are compact electric vehicles designed for urban use. They offer an entry point into electric mobility for individuals interested in alternatives to conventional vehicles. The VF 3 is equipped with an 18.94 kWh battery, delivering a maximum output of 40 PS and 110 Nm of torque.

Designed for short commutes and urban use, it has an estimated driving range of 215 kilometres.

The VF 5 is equipped with a 37.23 kWh battery, generating up to 134 PS and 135 Nm of torque.

It offers a driving range of 326 kilometres and is intended to accommodate longer journeys and intercity travel.
