Bisnis Otomotif, 16 Jan '25
Xiaomi has announced plans to introduce its SU7 electric vehicle (EV) to the Asian market, including Indonesia.
This information was shared by the Country Director of Xiaomi Indonesia, Wentan Zhao, during the Xiaomi Corporate Updates event held at Novus Jiva Anyer, Banten, on 15th January 2025.
"Many have been asking when Xiaomi's EV will arrive in Indonesia. I can confirm that this is no longer a question, as Indonesia represents a significant market for Xiaomi," Zhao stated at the event.
The Xiaomi SU7 is reported to feature an aerodynamic and modern design, characterised by sharp lines and smooth curves.
It is equipped with a high-performance electric motor, enabling the vehicle to achieve high speeds and deliver responsive acceleration.
According to Xiaomi, the SU7 offers a considerable range on a single charge, allowing users to travel long distances without concerns about battery depletion.
Despite this announcement, Zhao did not specify a timeline for the SU7Â’s launch in Indonesia. However, he emphasised Xiaomi's ambition for its EV offerings to become a global brand, extending beyond the Chinese market.
"This product - SU7 will undoubtedly be introduced in Asia; it is only a matter of time," Zhao further added.
Previously, Zhao described the mid-2024 launch of the SU7 in China as a significant success.
"The competition in China is intense, yet we managed to achieve success there. Demand for this product remains exceptionally high, and we are currently unable to meet delivery timelines due to ongoing factory expansion," he explained.
He noted that customers in China have shown patience, with many waiting three to four months for delivery. Some customers have even paid deposits and are prepared to wait up to six months.
"The fact that customers are willing to wait reflects the strong appeal of this product," Zhao concluded.
