BAIC to launch new MPV with BEV, PHEV powertrains in 2027

BAIC Indonesia is preparing several new models for the Indonesian market in 2027 as part of its plan to expand its product portfolio across multiple segments.
BAIC Indonesia's Chief Operating Officer, Dhani Yahya, stated that the product development plan includes electrification-based vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and multi-purpose vehicles intended for the Indonesian market.
Dhani explained that, in 2027, BAIC plans to introduce a large MPV with electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrains.
In addition, the company is preparing a small MPV from Arcfox, featuring sliding doors, an approximate length of 4.5 metres, and a fully electric powertrain. He made these remarks in Bekasi, West Java, on February 2nd, 2026.
He further added that the introduction of the electrified MPV is part of BAIC's strategy to expand its range of electrified vehicles in Indonesia, although the specific model to be launched has not yet been disclosed.
Alongside MPVs, BAIC is also planning a product update in the SUV segment. The BJ40 Pro is scheduled to be succeeded by the BJ41 REEV, with a planned launch in 2027.
Dhani stated that the BJ40 Pro REEV will be replaced by the BJ41, which is scheduled for introduction in 2027.
The BJ41 will be offered with two engine options: a 2.3 litre and a 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged engine, each combined with a hybrid system.
Meanwhile, BAIC is also preparing the BJ80 model, which is currently at the prototype stage. Dhani confirmed that a prototype of the BJ80 will be showcased at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026.
The presentation of the BJ80 at the international event is part of BAIC's preparations related to future marketing activities in several countries, including Indonesia. The company is developing products across multiple segments for the domestic market over the coming years.
Prior to the product expansion phase planned for 2027, BAIC will introduce the Arcfox T1 in 2026 as an electric city car in Indonesia.
Dhani stated that BAIC plans to continue introducing additional new products in stages.
