Bermaz Motor will introduce a new variant of the Mazda 3 in Malaysia for 2025, reintroducing the 1.5-litre powertrain to the local market.
Designated the 1.5G High Plus, this variant will be available in both Sedan and Liftback body styles.
Order books are currently open, with the estimated starting price listed at MYR 119,620 (US$ 28,100).
According to the official booking webpage, the Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus will be fully imported (CBU) from Japan.
At this price point, it is approximately MYR 29,700 less than the previous 1.5-litre variant of the Mazda 3 and is priced lower than the Honda Civic 1.5-litre E (MYR 133,900) and the Toyota Corolla G (MYR 144,800).
Based on initial specifications, the Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus will include a selection of driver assistance systems (ADAS). Currently, the least expensive Mazda 3 equipped with ADAS is the 2.0-litre High Plus variant, priced from MYR 166,059.
Although a complete feature list has not yet been published, it is expected that the 1.5G High Plus will include Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop-and-go function, Cruising and Traffic Support, Lane Keep Assist System, and Front Cross Traffic Alert.
Other equipment specified for the 1.5G High Plus includes leather seats with memory function, a wireless phone charger, and a 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay. This infotainment system was introduced with the Mazda 3 facelift in 2023.
It will also include keyless entry, automatic rain-sensing wipers, and LED lighting. Exterior colour options listed on the booking site include Soul Red Crystal, Machine Grey, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black, Polymetal Grey, and Platinum Quartz.
The SkyActiv-G 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, which was discontinued in Malaysia during the 2023 facelift, is being reintroduced with this variant.
It delivers 118 PS and 153 Nm of torque. These output figures are expected to remain unchanged for the 2025 model. The variant will also retain the GVC Plus torque vectoring system.
