Nio and GAC are set to work together on battery standards, development and customisation of battery swap-enabled models, battery asset management and operations, and battery swap service network construction.

The Nio-led battery swap alliance is seeing a new member, with Chinese auto giant GAC Group the latest to join.

Nio and GAC signed a strategic cooperation agreement on charging and battery swap on May 8th, 2024 in Guangzhou, where the latter is headquartered, according to a statement given to local media on 8th May, 2024.

"The two sides will carry out strategic cooperation in the areas of battery standards, development and customisation of battery swap-enabled models, battery asset management and operation, and battery swap service network construction and operation," Nio said.

The two will promote the interconnection of their own charging platforms, the electric vehicle (EV) maker further added.
