Cambodia is taking steps to develop its automotive sector through partnerships with international manufacturers.

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) confirmed that Guangzhou Automobile (GAC) Group has secured exclusive rights to manufacture GAC vehicles in the Kingdom.

At a press conference on recently, Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) under the CDC, announced the agreement alongside Zhong Jie, Economic and Trade Adviser of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cambodia, and representatives from GAC Group and TH Group.

Vuthy stated that the partnership between GAC Group and TH Automotive Manufacturing represents a step in Cambodia's industrial development and reflects investor engagement under Prime Minister Hun Manet's administration.

He further added that the venture is expected to generate economic effects, including job creation, technology transfer, and development of the country's industrial capacity.

The Secretary General noted the completion of the agreement and outlined expectations for continued operational progress.
