K-Electric (KE) and Mega Motor Company (MMC), the local partner of electric vehicle manufacturer BYD in Pakistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a dedicated electricity connection for BYD's forthcoming vehicle manufacturing facility in the country.
Under the agreement, KE will supply a dedicated 5-megawatt (MW) power connection to BYD-MMC, with scalability of up to 7.5MW, providing electricity as production increases.
The manufacturing plant is scheduled to commence operations in 2026 and will employ automated, technology-driven processes aligned with international operational standards.
As part of the arrangement, BYD-MMC will design and finance the dedicated power infrastructure, providing an energy supply tailored to the plant's operational requirements.
The collaboration is intended to support industrial operations and maintain efficiency across BYD's localised manufacturing setup in Pakistan.
KE Chief Executive Officer Moonis Alvi stated that the partnership reflects confidence among global manufacturers in KE's capacity to provide scalable power solutions.
He further added that KE remains focused on supporting industrial growth while contributing to Pakistan's sustainability and clean energy objectives.
Aly Khan, CEO of BYD Pakistan - Mega Motor Company (MMC), noted that access to reliable power is necessary for maintaining operational standards and scaling production.
He further added that such arrangements can support investment and industrial development in the country.
The agreement provides a dedicated electricity connection for BYD's manufacturing facility as part of Pakistan's electric vehicle manufacturing sector.
