Electric vehicle (EV) sales in Malaysia are projected to triple by 2030, underscoring the importance of developing adequate charging infrastructure to support a smooth transition for consumers.
In response to this need, Kineta and Charge+ announced a strategic partnership last week at the ongoing Malaysia Auto Show (MAS 2025).
With support from Kineta, Charge+ will expand its EV charging network throughout Malaysia.
Additionally, customers of both companies will benefit from seamless access to chargers across their combined networks. The two organisations also intend to collaborate on major EV charging projects, not only within Malaysia but across Southeast Asia.
Kineta is supported by one of the largest teams of Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST)-certified engineers in Malaysia. This technical capacity ensures that all residential and commercial charger installations adhere to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
To date, the company has sold over 9,000 chargers and completed more than 6,000 installations, covering both retail and large-scale commercial sites.
Sunny Lee, Managing Director of Kineta, stated: "Kineta is pleased to collaborate with Charge+ on this strategic alliance, which represents a significant development in the effort to accelerate EV adoption in Malaysia. It also supports the broader objective of enabling a seamless cross-border charging experience."
Charge+ is an established entity in the EV charging sector across Southeast Asia. With an expanding presence, the company currently operates more than 3,000 charging points across six countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Charge+ has set a target to deploy 30,000 charging points by 2030. According to Goh Chee Kiong, Chief Executive Officer of Charge+, "This partnership also supports the company's goal of building a 5,000km DC charging highway across Southeast Asia."
