MG is set to strengthen its position in Thailand's electric vehicle market with the continued rollout of its IM6 electric SUV line-up, following the initial launch earlier in 2025.
Following the launch of the MG IM6 electric SUV coupe in early 2025 by SAIC Motor-CP and MG Sales Thailand - the manufacturer and distributor of MG vehicles in Thailand - two sub-models have been introduced: the Premium 2WD, offering a range of 550 km per charge, and the Performance AWD, which delivers a range of 634 km per charge.
MG plans to expand its presence in the electric vehicle market in the second half of the year with the introduction of the IM6 Long Range.
This variant is classified as a premium electric vehicle and provides a claimed range of up to 750 km per charge under the NEDC standard.
It is equipped with 800-volt charging technology that supports direct current (DC) charging up to 396 kW. The system enables charging from 10-80% in approximately 18 minutes. The official unveiling is scheduled for 22nd August 2025 at the Big Motor Sale 2025.
The design of the IM6 Long Range is expected to remain consistent with the version released in March. The exterior follows the Gentle Sculpture design approach, incorporating curved surfaces and a streamlined form. It includes a front grille and L-shaped headlamps, along with Daytime Running Lights.
The side profile incorporates aerodynamic elements. The vehicle includes concealed door handles and frameless side mirrors with dual-layer glass. These mirrors are electrically adjustable and foldable, and include integrated turn indicators.
At the rear, the vehicle is fitted with extended taillights styled in a Skyline pattern and features a wraparound rear design. The rear styling also reflects aerodynamic considerations. A rear window defogger is provided.
According to preliminary information, the IM6 Long Range is designed to deliver extended range and rapid charging capability. When fully charged, it is expected to offer a range of up to 750 km (NEDC). The 800-volt system enables Quick Charge functionality at up to 396 kW, allowing for a 10-80% charge in 18 minutes.
Full specifications and pricing details of the IM6 Long Range will be released on 22nd August 2025 during the Big Motor Sale 2025.
