The 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty is expected to be priced close to, or above, AUD 100,000 (US$ 64,700) drive-away when it arrives in showrooms in early 2026.
It will be the most expensive diesel-powered Ranger model sold in Australia to date. The Super Duty is an upgraded heavy-duty version of Ford's utility vehicle, offering a 4500kg braked towing capacity, an 8000kg gross combination mass, off-road-related modifications, a V6 diesel engine, and a payload capacity of nearly two tons.
These specifications contribute to a higher cost, with the base single-cab chassis variant priced from AUD 82,990 before on-road charges. The Super Cab chassis variant is priced at AUD 86,490 plus on-road costs, and the dual-cab chassis is listed at AUD 89,990 plus on-road charges.
A dual-cab pick-up version and a higher-specification XLT grade are expected to follow later in 2026.
The vehicle is powered by a recalibrated 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine. The engine has been adjusted for heavy-duty use and to comply with Euro 6 emissions regulations.
It now produces 154 kW and 600 Nm of torque, down from 184 kW/600 Nm, and uses AdBlue exhaust fluid.
At AUD 82,990, the single-cab Super Duty is nearly twice the cost of the least expensive four-wheel-drive Ranger single-cab chassis variant, which is priced at AUD 47,980 before on-road charges and uses a bi-turbo four-cylinder engine.
The dual-cab chassis variant is more than AUD 23,000 more expensive than the Ranger XLT V6 dual-cab chassis (AUD 66,940) and is AUD 450 less than the twin-turbo petrol V6 Ranger Raptor.
A comparable alternative is the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series, priced from AUD 76,800 plus on-road costs for the single-cab chassis automatic, AUD 79,300 for the dual-cab chassis automatic, and AUD 83,500 for the GXL dual-cab chassis automatic.
The 70 Series is lower in price, though it is fitted with a smaller engine and has reduced load capacities, including a 3500kg towing capacity, 3510kg gross vehicle mass, and 7010kg gross combination mass.
By comparison, the Ford F-150 full-size pick-up, which also has a 4500kg towing capacity, starts at AUD 106,950 plus on-road costs.
Purchasers of the Ranger Super Duty will need to purchase a steel tray separately, priced between AUD 5,966 and AUD 9,376 depending on the selected body style and colour.
Pricing for the dual-cab pick-up variant, which will include a standard tub rather than a bare chassis, has not been announced. Pricing for the XLT grade, which will feature additional interior equipment, also remains unconfirmed.
All Super Duty models are rated with a 4500kg braked towing capacity (using Ford-supplied towing equipment), a 4500kg gross vehicle mass (GVM), an 8000kg gross combination mass (GCM), a 1900kg maximum front axle load, and a 2800kg maximum rear axle load.
These specifications exceed those of the Ranger XLT V6 4x4 cab-chassis, which is rated at 3500kg towing capacity, 3280kg GVM, 6400kg GCM, 1490kg front axle load, and 1959kg rear axle load.
Ford has published payload figures for the Super Duty range: up to 1982kg for the single-cab chassis, up to 1896kg for the Super Cab chassis, and up to 1825kg for the dual-cab chassis. For reference, the Ranger XLT V6 dual-cab chassis has a payload capacity of 1150kg.
Mechanical specifications include 18-inch, eight-lug wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tyres, additional underbody protection, a reinforced chassis, a 130-litre fuel tank, and increased suspension height.
Wading depth is rated at 850mm across all Super Duty models, compared to 800mm for the standard Ranger. Track width is 1710mm, increased from 1620mm, aligning it with the Ranger Raptor.
Ground clearance is 299mm for the single-cab, 297mm for the Super Cab, and 295mm for the dual-cab variant.
The revised 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine delivers 154kW at 3250rpm (previously 184kW at the same rpm), while torque remains at 600Nm at 1750rpm. The reduction in power output is due to a specific calibration developed to comply with Euro VI heavy-duty vehicle emissions requirements, including the integration of AdBlue.
The engine has been designed to address issues of overheating and oil leakage reported in previous iterations.
It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system and is supported by an upgraded cooling system reported to offer 25% greater efficiency.
Design changes include a new bonnet, front wheel arches, grille, model-specific wheels, and black wheel-arch mouldings.
Five paint finishes will be available initially: Seismic Tan (exclusive to the Super Duty), Arctic White, Shadow Black, Command Grey, and Aluminium Metallic. An additional colour, Traction Green, will be introduced at a later date.
The 2026 Ranger Super Duty is scheduled to arrive in its initial three variants in early 2026, with further information to be released closer to launch.
