The South Korean brand Genesis has repositioned the Electrified G80 sedan as a long-wheelbase flagship model.
A new long-wheelbase version, previously not offered in Australia, replaces the standard wheelbase variant. This update includes a higher-capacity battery and a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 570km.
Pricing for the 2025 Electrified G80 long-wheelbase starts at AUD 155,000 (US$ 100,500) before on-road costs, representing an increase of AUD 9,942 over the previous version.
The battery capacity has increased from 87.2kWh to 94.5kWh, with a corresponding rise in WLTP driving range from 520km to 570km. Genesis states that a 10 to 80 per cent charge can be completed in approximately 25 minutes using a 350kW charger.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system maintains output figures of 272 kW and 700 Nm (136 kW and 350 Nm per motor). The 0-100km/h acceleration time is listed as 5.1 seconds.
New features for the 2025 model include a 130mm wheelbase extension, rear-wheel steering, passenger seat memory, power-adjustable rear seats, powered door and rear window sunshades, and self-closing rear doors.
Other changes include a 27-inch combined instrument and infotainment display, a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, active noise cancellation, and updates to the driver assistance systems, which now include automated lane change and navigation-based smart cruise control.
The vehicle's overall length has increased to 5135 mm (up by 130 mm), and height has increased by 5 mm to 1480 mm. Width remains at 1925 mm.
Interior space has increased, with an additional 83mm of rear-seat legroom and 20mm more rear-seat headroom.
Seating includes orthopaedic-certified seats in the front and outboard rear positions, with heating and ventilation functions for both rows. The front seats offer 18-way adjustment, while the rear seats provide 16-way adjustment.
Further additions include a UV-C sanitising centre console and powered easy-open and easy-close rear doors.
The 27-inch infotainment display supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Genesis Connected Services, and over-the-air software updates. The 20-speaker Lexicon sound system has been replaced by a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen system.
Driver assistance system upgrades feature Hyundai Group's Highway Driving Assist 2, automatic lane-change functionality, enhanced collision avoidance, lane-follow assist, and a cruise control system that adjusts speed based on navigation data.
Chassis changes aim to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness. Rear-wheel steering has also been included to improve low-speed manoeuvrability.
Exterior updates include revised front and rear bumpers with chrome detailing, a new front grille in bright chrome, matrix LED headlights, 19-inch aero alloy wheels, and a redesigned front badge with a guilloche diamond-pattern insert.
